New site online

Got another new site online recently, http://www.personal-video-recorder.net/

A bit of a muff up on this one.. the original plan was to become a TiVo DVR affiliate marketter and built the site, before they authorised the application. Whoops. So now this site exists and has to be monetised using old faithful Amazon & AdSense

Disable “Open File – Security Warning” for Windows XP SP2, Vista & Windows 7

Click Start > Run > gpedit.msc

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows
Components > Attachment Manager

Enable Default Risk Level for File Attachments, and add .exe; to the list.

Delete & replace Exchange 2007 2010 SSL Certificate for Nokia E71 E72 phones running Symbian

From the home screen (with the clock etc) do the following.
Click Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Security > Certificate Management > Trusted Site Certificates

Highlight the one which says “pwpexch01.pumpsandpressure.com”, press Options (top left button), select Delete.

Now go back to the home screen, open Mail for Exchange, press Options (top left button again).
Select Synchronise Now.

When prompted about the certificate again, press “Permanantly Accept”.

There’s a bit of a hiccup where these phones don’t delete the old certificate, and install the new one.. which is what you’ve done above, removing the old one before installing the new one

Creating a new Exchange 2007 SSL Certificate

Ever had to do this ? The first time I did it I messed around with the CERTSRV service, MMC, etc etc. Then I found a much faster, easier way to do it.
So allow me to present, The Easiest Way To Make A New Exchange Certificate to Stop SSL Warnings and Errors Due To An Expired Certificate:

1. Run Exchange Powershell on your Exchange 2007 server.

Run these commands..

2. Get-ExchangeCertificate -DomainName pumpsandpressure.com

This tells you the Thumbprint of the Existing, previously working, SSL Certificate.

3. Get-ExchangeCertificate -Thumbprint {retrieved in step 2} | New-ExchangeCertificate

Enter the Thumbprint string retrieved in Step 2. This command will replicate the existing certificate, and re-sign it for 12 months validity !

4. When prompted, select Overwrite Existing Certificate for All.
This creates a new certificate and deletes the old invalid one. Note the Thumbprint of the new certificate !

5. enable-exchangecertificate -thumbprint {shown in step 4} -services “IMAP, POP, IIS, SMTP”

This will enable the new certificate, and tell Exchange to use it for IMAP, POP, IIS & SMTP signing (IE. All Services).

Thats it !

If there’s any regular readers you’re probably wondering where I’ve been ? Pretty busy on this end. About 2 months ago GoDaddy’s severs decided to keep generating Error 500 on 9 of my sites.. including one clients site . This was the final straw in a long list of hosting screw ups courtesy of GoDaddy’s shaky server. All websites have since been relocated to HostGator. Two new sites are online. One I’m a bit bummed about, as the advertising partner I built it for rejected my application . But its been repurposed and is still online right here: www.personal-video-recorder.net but its a shame TiVo didnt want in on the action after all the hard work.

My side project (which was left on pause for the best part of 7 months) is FINALLY online ! I got sick of all the yah yah friends this friends that on social network, so here’s my solution. www.PWCGF.com (People Who Can Get F’d), the ANTI-social network. Its a parody site and hopefully will be a lot of fun.

Trend Micro Office Scan 10 problems logging into the web console

After an upgrade to Trend Micro Officescan 10, you may find that you can’t log into the web console. It prompts for a username and password. It hints that Active Directory users should log in as domain\username.

The key piece of missing information is that no domain account is actually valid. The correct username is root. Use this along with your previous password and you can log in.

Once you have logged in, you will be able to set up Active Directory users with login permissions. This is done under Administration.

Adding Pull-down menu Boxes to Excel 2007

A guy asked me how to do this the other day and I couldnt remember for the life of me.,. so after asking Google, I’ve found the steps. Here we go…

Click the “Office Button” on the top left
Click “Excel Options” in the menu
Click “Popular”
Check “Show Developer Tab”

Now you can select the Developers Tools on the ribbon (top menu)

Select Insert (click the down arrow under it) and select the icon which shows the Pulldown Menu, then follow the prompts. Too easy !

Please Note, the “pre-populated data” must occure on another column inside the worksheet. Create the column values first.. you can hide it late if you wish.

limera1n out today.. are you have problems getting it to install on your iPhone 4G or 3GS ? Solutions Ahoy.

This drove me nuts all morning.. if you’ve lived under a rock, limera1n is the much anticipated jailbreak for iPhone 4G and 3G or 3GS devices upgraded to iOS 4.1.

Personally, I’m impressed with geohot, he talks quietly and carries a big stick, and definitely seems more interested in putting out exploits than talking about them.

Anyhow, if you’ve grabbed limera1n and cant get it to work, dont waste your time asking on the various sites cos good ol’ Tezzating has your (probable) answer..

Answer me these questions:
1. Did you Right Click > Run As administrator ? (Vista & Windows 7). If not, try that.
2. After following the onscreen instructions does the phone reboot straight away and there’s no limera1n icon on your phone ?

I bet you’re running 64-bit Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. Seems limera1n doesnt work correctly under a XP 64, Vista 64 or Windows 7 64 bit platform.

Beg/borrow/steal a regular 32-bit XP, Vista or Windows 7 system, Right Click > Run As Administrator on the executable. Voila !

Once the exploits applied the phone will switch itself off. Turn it on, run limera1n (from the white icon), install Cydia, power off the phone, power it back on.
TADA ! Cydia is there.
